REUBEN STROMBOLI

This is one impressive Stromboli! Whenever I make this, I am always impressed with the result. I feel like dining in a five-star restaurant with this Reuben Stromboli. Little did everyone know that this is incredibly easy to throw together using only a few ingredients. You do not have to be a pro to pull this off and yet, the result will awe everyone!

INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4 lbs pastrami, sliced
  • 1 pizza dough ball
  • 12 oz. sauerkraut
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp caraway seeds
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • Russian dressing:
  • 1 tbsp minced onion
  • 1 c. mayo
  • 1/4 c. ketchup
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire
  • 2 tbsp minced pickles

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees F.

Step 2: Into a rectangle (not too thin), roll the pizza dough. Add a layer of pastrami on it followed by a layer of cheese, then the second layer of pastrami. Make sure to leave about an inch border. Before adding the sauerkraut over the pastrami, ensure to squeeze out the excess liquid from it.

Step 3: Along one long side of the pizza dough, brush the egg wash. Start rolling the dough, then pinch the ends to seal. Brush the entire stromboli with egg wash and sprinkle with caraway seeds.

Step 4: Place the stromboli on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes.

Step 5: In the meantime, whisk the dressing ingredients in a bowl until well mixed.

Step 6: When done, take the stromboli from the oven and let them cool for about 15 minutes.

Step 7: Slice and serve with the dressing. Enjoy!
