INGREDIENTS

1 pound (450 grams) sausage (Bratwurst or Italian style)

1 pound (450 grams) fresh stringless green beans, trimmed

3 tbsp butter, divided,

5 garlic cloves, minced

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Juice of 1/2 lemon plus lemon slices, for garnish

Salt and fresh cracked pepper

1/4 c. (60ml) vegetable or beef stock

1 tbsp hot sauce, optional (we used Sriracha)

Crushed red chilli pepper flakes, optional

1/2 c. fresh chopped parsley

1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves

HOW TO MAKE GARLIC BUTTER SAUSAGES WITH LEMON GREEN BEANS

Step 1: In a microwave-safe dish with half a cup or 125 ml water, arrange the green beans. Cover and microwave for about 8 to 10 minutes until almost done but still crisp.

Step 2: Meanwhile, in a skillet with half a cup of water, lay the sausages. Cook for about 10 minutes over medium heat, covered. Make sure to turn the sausages regularly while cooking. After the water has evaporated, add in the 2 tbsp butter, half garlic, and red pepper flakes. Cook for a few minutes more until the sausages are browned. When done, place the cooked sausages on a plate and set aside.

Step 3: Decrease the heat and melt the rest of the tbsp butter in the same skillet. Once melted, add in the chopped parsley, thyme, rest of the garlic, Italian seasoning, red crushed chilli pepper flakes, and the pre-cooked beans. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes until cooked to your liking, stirring constantly.

Step 4: Pour in the vegetable or beef stock, lemon juice, and add in the hot sauce. Deglaze the pan, then let the sauce reduce for a few minutes.

Step 5: Put the garlic butter sausages back to the pan and quickly reheat. Adjust the seasoning according to taste.

Step 6: Before serving, garnish with extra crushed chilli pepper, fresh herbs, and a slice of lemon. Enjoy immediately.

Note:

Add a bit of white wine to the sauce to enrich the flavours of this dish.
