Ingredients:
1/2 c white sugar
3 tbsp white sugar
2 (8 oz.) packages of refrigerated crescent roll dough (such as Pillsbury® Recipe Creations®), divided
Two lemons, zested and juiced, divided
cooking spray
2 tbsp butter, melted
2 (8 oz.) packages of cream cheese, softened
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Line with aluminium foil a 9×13-inch baking dish, then coat it with cooking spray.
Add 1 can of crescent roll into the prepared baking dish, then press it to the bottom and sides to evenly spread it.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, add lemon juice and lemon zest. Beat for a few minutes until well blended.
Add 1/2 cup sugar and cream cheese. Beat for a few more minutes until well blended and smooth.
Pour the mixture on top of the dough and spread it evenly.
Lay the 2nd dough over the cream cheese layer, then press the bottom and sides.
Brush the top dough with melted butter.
In a mixing bowl, add the rest of the lemon zest and 3 tbsp of sugar. Stir until well blended. Sprinkle the mixture on top of the dough.
Place the dough inside the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until the top turns golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let the cake rest for at least 20 minutes at room temperature.
Transfer the cake onto a clean cutting board, then slice it into even squares.
Place the Lemon Cream Cheese Bars inside the fridge to chill for an hour.
