Mushroom & Onion Burgers

“I love caramelized onions and mushrooms on my burgers. This is a simple recipe that combines them all. I also like to have a small bowl of barbecue sauce to dip in when serving too. Yum.”

Ingredients Add to Shopping List
1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
3 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
FOR MUSHROOMS & ONIONS
1 onion, thinly sliced (med onion)
6 ounces mushrooms, sliced (fresh, 3/4 cup)
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Step 1

Prepare Mushrooms and Onions (below). Set aside.

Step 2

Mix ground beef, onion, water, salt and pepper.

Step 3

Shape mixture into 4 patties, each about 3/4 inch thick.

Step 4

Grill patties about 4 inches from medium coals 7 to 8 minutes on each side for medium, turning once, until desired doneness.

Step 5

Prepare Mushrooms and Onions:

Step 6

Cook onion and mushrooms in butter in 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions and mushrooms are tender. Stir in Worcestershire sauce.

Step 7

Serve over burgers.
