One-pan meals are my new best friend. They save my life more than I can remember and get me through the busiest and laziest days always! I have lists of my favourites and go-to one-pan recipes that I would like to share with everyone, and I would like to start with one of my top picks, this one-pan cheesy smoked sausage and pasta recipe. It is made with readily available ingredients that I can easily and quickly throw in a single pot! This dish deserves a spot on your regular rotation. It is a seriously wonderful weeknight dinner that I am pretty sure your entire family will love and enjoy. And leftovers are amazing, too! You can easily make this a gluten-free dish, simply use gluten-free pasta. Make sure not to miss this one-pan cheesy smoked sausage and pasta recipe because this will make your life so much easier.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound sausage
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 8 ounces dry pasta
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- ½ c. diced onion
- 2 c. Chicken Broth
- ½ c. milk
- 1 (14 ounces) can diced tomatoes
- ¼ teaspoon of Red Pepper Flakes
- 2 c. shredded Cheddar-Jack cheese
- ⅓ c. chopped scallions, for garnish
- ½ tsp salt and pepper, each
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the onions and sausage. Cook for about 5 minutes, then add the garlic and all seasonings. Continue to cook for additional 2 minutes.
Step 2: To the pan, add the chicken broth along with the tomatoes, milk, and pasta. Bring everything to a boil, then decrease the heat. Put the lid on and cook further. This takes another 15 minutes.
Step 3: Remove the lid and stir in the cheese.
Step 4: Serve the cheesy smoked sausage and pasta garnished with some chopped scallions. Enjoy!
