The juicy burger, caramelized pineapple and perfect sauce is also fabulous just over a bed of lettuce.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ cup cold water
- ½ cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- ¼ cup plus 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger, very fine
- 2 small garlic cloves, finely minced
- 2 pounds fresh ground beef or (ground turkey)
- ½ cup grated carrots
- ½ cup chopped scallions
- ½ jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
- 1 Tablespoon reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce (more if you like it spicy)
- 8 slices fresh pineapple
- Lettuce, red onions and whatever other fixings you want for the burgers
- 8 hamburger buns
